The Holy Stone HS170 Predator Mini RC Helicopter Drone is one of the top-selling drones on the market and, considering its reasonably average pricing; it is easy to see why. The product represents a good compromise between the performance of more expensive models and the affordability of cheaper ones. You control the Holy Stone HS170 Predator Mini RC Helicopter Drone with a 2.4G remote controller. This drones come with a control range of roughly thirty to fifty meters and can fly six to eight minutes on one charging time. A typical battery charge takes around forty-five minute to one hour.Six-axis gyro stabilizes the drone during flight when you make quick turns or sharp drops. What is more, the headless flight system ensures a flight device that responds to the movement of the controller rather than the movements of a camera on top of the drone’s “head.”While the product manual recommends this drone for children fourteen and up, many users say they enjoyed it with children as young as seven years old, as long as they are under proper parental supervision. While the flight controls are sensitive, they work well once you get the hang of them.Generally, there were some complaints about the way the Holy Stone HS170 Predator Mini RC Helicopter Drone handles when in use, but it seems most of these people only did not read the manual. When you pull both sticks back, and to the left, before takeoff the aircraft should fly with more stability every time.Still, even if the product did include general flying issues, we still think it contains enough base features to be one of the top offers in terms of its ranking in the best drones for kids. However, considering most people were able to fly the product fine with practice, we include it at the top of our list.

If you want the next step up from the Holy Stone HS170 Predator Mini RC Helicopter Drone, then the AKASO A21 Quadcopter Drone is the right product for you. At an average price, it is a bit more expensive than the former models, but it comes with a variety of upgraded features. Not least of which is a 720p camera which connects via Bluetooth with your smartphone. You can then attach the smartphone to your controllers. Once combined, you control the drone by the first-person display on your phone. Not only is it a more immersive experience, but it also features recording and streaming. In terms of the performance, the AKASO improves slightly from the Holy Stone HS170 Predator Mini RC Helicopter Drone, but only marginally. They both feature a control range of thirty to fifty meters. However, the average flight time is about two minutes longer at ten minutes. Charging time takes around ninety minutes. This drone also features more customization in terms of flight patterns. You can set flight patterns for the remote aircraft to perform on its own. Not to mention, the one essential landing and takeoff key allows for the stressful process of landing to be reduced to a single button, which is a lot easier for children. If you do not mind paying a little extra, then the AKASO model improves on the Holy Stone model in almost every way. As such, we think it is a slightly superior beginner model of a drone. However, the affordability of the Holy Stone might make it a more attractive prospect for their kids.

The Drocon Ninja features some of the nifty features that come with lower tier hobby models, but the average price tag might dissuade some individuals from buying it for their children. Still, the upgraded 720p HD camera might be enough to convince some individuals. The gravity sensor on the aircraft allows you to take advantage of the gyro feature on your smartphone. This feature means when you connect with your smartphone, you can control the drone by tilting your phone from left to right. Alternatively, you can use fingertips on your smartphone. However, the performance of the Drocon Ninja Drone only improves marginally from the previous models listed. The product features a max flying distance of eighty meters with a five to seven minute battery time. Charge times take around sixty minutes.Unfortunately, some customers had recurring issues with the battery — especially after they used the drone multiple times. While replacing the battery is not the biggest deal in the world, it is a bit inconvenient, and considering the higher price of the model, you would think the company would include a better model. However many customers reported that the customer service for the company is excellent.

Like many of the upper tier beginner models, the Spacekey drone connects to your phone for the first person flying capabilities on an attachable controller. An intricate barometer device on the display screen helps new flyers know what altitude they linger at while hovering. The Spacekey features one button takeoff and landing features for children still learning to fly. The model is also very portable — the rotors and wings can fold into its body creating a transportable product a third of its traditional size. However, keep in mind that just because the Spacekey FPV Wi-Fi Drone with Camera 720P HD is a beginner model that does not need it is easy to cry. Many users reported being disappointed by how difficult flying the drone was for them. While this complaint likely comes down to user error, it is worth noting that beginner does not mean intuitive. Learning to fly the drone will still take time, patience and trial &; error. As such you should not be disappointed if you cannot operate the product right out of the box.

If you are waiting for the most affordable drone on this list, then the Fitmaker MINI Drone with LED Lights RC Quadcopter is right for you. When you consider its low price tag, the device functions beautifully as a training device for young children. It contains many of the features offered by other drones.A headless flying mode offers increased visibility; one button takeoff improves landing conditions and the device even features a three hundred sixty degrees flip feature for mid-flight acrobatics. What is more, the product can take a beating when it crashesPlus, the blue and green lights make flying the drone at night, or in a dark room a beautiful spectacle. You can operate the Hitmaker MINI Drone with LED Lights RC Quadcopter using two speeds — high and low. However, the device is not perfect. Many users reported that while flying the machine is very difficult to control. Others stated that the product’s propellers hurt their children. As such, you should always supervise any flight activity done with the device if any children use it.

3 stars out of 5 stars

The HASAKEE FPV RC Drone offers many of the features that feel standard on most quadcopters: connectable smartphone capabilities, one key takeoff and landing buttons, and three-speed control while flying. The design of the model is also a bit unorthodox — the drone looks a bit like a bathysphere.Considering, the average price tag, and the host of features, like three hundred sixty degree flip technology, gravity control on the controller and the holding altitude function, you would think that the HASAKEE FPV RC Drone offers a good compromise between affordability and capacity.Unfortunately, we cannot fully endorse buying the Hasakee product. Many users reported that the device flies fine at first, but breaks after only a few uses. Others stated that the invention is just plain hard to operate.Others were disappointed by the size of the device. The picture of the drones makes it seem like a relatively large device, but in reality, the aircraft is little more than the size of a coffee cup. Considering the company never outright mentions the size of the product, this feature feels like a deceptive marketing practice.

If you never purchased a drone before, then you might be confused by some of the terminology used in the above review. Luckily, in this buyer’s guide, we include some helpful tips for understanding both the differences between different types of drones and what features you should look for when shopping.First, let us understand the different types of drones. There are generally four popular types of drones: beginner models, hobby models, professional models, and racing models. Here is a closer look at what each model entails:

Now that we know the difference between the various types of models let us take a closer look at some of the features you should look for when buying a drone for your child. First, you want to consider safety. Does the drone include a smooth takeoff and landing button for simplified flying?Flight time and control range are also important considerations you should know about, but they are not crucial for a lot of the beginner models on this list. Most beginner and lower tier hobby models feature a range of about fifty meters and a flight time of roughly eight minutes. You also want to look for drone models with a headless flying mode. This feature will eliminate some of the confusion associated with flying for the first time. Often new flyers get confused by the limited one eight degrees range of fixed-point cameras. As such, headless models provide a unique 360-degree view. However, for many parents price is the most significant consideration. No one wants to drop seventy dollars on a drone only to crash it right out of the box. As such, you may want to consider getting one of the cheaper models if your child will fly the device by themselves. That way, you can replace it easily if they crash.Regardless of what type of drone you select, you should always supervise your child when they use it — at least until they can fly it competently by themselves. Many parents reported kids getting hurt by the propellers, so teach your children the dangers inherent in flying before they begin. We hope this article helped you identify some of the best drones for kids. When buying an expensive piece of technology for your child, you never want to purchase anything that you cannot afford to lose. Even professionals can have slip ups when flying drones, so you should not blame a child if they break it.Instead, you should get an affordable model that you can upgrade once your child becomes a more competent flyer. However, we always recommend parent guidance when children fly drones, especially if they are younger than fourteen years old. Be careful, and safe flying!
